The honest trade-off: small local models vs. GPT-scale cloud models
It would be dishonest to pretend there’s no trade-off here, so let’s be direct about it: the models that run on a phone are smaller than the models that run in a data centre. ChatGPT’s models run on enormous server clusters with essentially no hard limit on how large they can be.
